Delivery robots scan faces and collect customer biometric data, lawsuit alleges

Two Chicago men are suing delivery robot companies Coco Robotics and Serve Robotics for allegedly collecting their biometric information without consent. The two separate class action lawsuits were filed earlier this month. Both claim that the robots' external cameras and internal LiDAR technology are used to scan and collect measurements of customers' faces and hands as they approach the devices. That data was then retained and used to train AI systems, according to the plaintiffs, and attached to personally identifiable information like names and addresses. SEE ALSO: Judge asked to toss 60-year prison sentence over use of Flock cameras One suit filed against Coco Robotics claims the company didn't disclose to customers that its device would scan and collect information, thereby violating Illinois privacy laws. It also extends the privacy violation claim to the use of remote human operators, who were allegedly abl...

Apple’s iPhone Duo ships Friday, Oct. 23, and it has one of the biggest batteries the company has ever put in an iPhone. The Duo packs a 4,883 mAh battery, according to data from GSMarena . That’s more capacity than every iPhone released since the iPhone 13, with three exceptions: the eSIM-only iPhone 17 Pro Max and both versions of the iPhone 18 Pro Max . It's an impressive phone, so impressive it immediately sold out after Apple opened it up for pre-orders. The foldable ships Friday, Oct. 23, and Mashable’s full review is on the way. To see how its battery capacity stacks up, we compared it with that of every iPhone from the iPhone 13 onward. The iPhone 13 is still one of the most widely used iPhones , making it a natural baseline for anyone considering an upgrade. Gen Alpha has turned the French fries emoji into an insult

If you've noticed people dropping the fries emoji in TikTok comments lately, they're probably not hungry. The French fries emoji (🍟), sometimes accompanied by a peace sign (✌️), has become a way for Gen Alpha to tell someone they're being corny, embarrassing, or simply talking too much. Think of it as the emoji equivalent of telling someone to wrap it up . And like so much of Gen Alpha's internet slang, the joke isn't entirely new. It's the latest evolution of a meme that's been circulating online for years. What does the fries emoji mean? Depending on the context, the fries emoji can have a few different meanings, none of which have much to do with fast food. On its own, 🍟 can be used to call someone or something "corny" or "cringe." It's a dismissive reaction to a joke that doesn't land, an embarrassing comment, or someone who's trying a little too hard. Paired with the peace sign , 🍟✌️ ...
