Texas blocks funding for Flock as backlash grows against AI surveillance cameras

Flock's AI surveillance cameras are increasingly being targeted by its critics across the country. No, we're not just talking about vigilantes who are taking the cameras down in their towns. We're talking about politicians now, too. And it's a bipartisan effort; an anti-Flock position is being taken up by both Republican and Democratic politicians. Case in point: Texas Governor Greg Abbot, a Republican, has just recently blocked funding for Flock across the state. Abbott ordered that all state agencies stop funding the AI surveillance camera company in an order issued on Thursday night. Abbot's order came just as The Texas Tribune was going to publish a report on how the state of Texas spent at least $30 million in grants provided to local agencies to acquire the Flock cameras. According to the report , the money came from a higher fee levied by Texas lawmakers on Texans' car insurance policies. Play our Big Guessing Game: Make your predictions now for a cha...

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says AGI is already here — and the milestone is senseless

Some AI industry leaders, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, are obsessed with artificial general intelligence , or AGI. While the term has no universally agreed-upon definition, it generally refers to AI that can match or even surpass human cognitive abilities across a large range of tasks. In a recent interview , Altman shared that OpenAI believes it will achieve AGI by the end of the year. However, according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, AI has, in some respects, already achieved AGI — and it's really no big deal. Nvidia has become the darling of the tech industry in recent years. The company is an invaluable part of the AI industry because it produces many of the high-performance chips that power the technology. During an earnings call on Aug. 26, Huang was asked about AGI in light of OpenAI's recent claims. "For many tasks, we could say that we’ve already achieved AGI," Huang said. "I think of all of those milestones…they’re kind of senseless at this point....

Hurdle hints and answers for August 23, 2026

If you like playing daily word games like Wordle , then Hurdle is a great game to add to your routine. There are five rounds to the game. The first round sees you trying to guess the word, with correct, misplaced, and incorrect letters shown in each guess. If you guess the correct answer, it'll take you to the next hurdle, providing the answer to the last hurdle as your first guess. This can give you several clues or none, depending on the words. For the final hurdle, every correct answer from previous hurdles is shown, with correct and misplaced letters clearly shown. An important note is that the number of times a letter is highlighted from previous guesses does necessarily indicate the number of times that letter appears in the final hurdle. What is CyberLeek? Everything we know about the alleged GTA 6 leakers.

Gamers have been waiting years to see gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto VI , but this week, an individual or group known as CyberLeek has started posting possible clips online. For anyone who has not spent years following every scrap of GTA 6 news, here is why this matters: The game is the long-awaited next installment in Rockstar Games’ enormously popular open-world crime series. Players explore fictional cities, drive vehicles, complete missions, and generally cause as much chaos as they want. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V , was released in 2013, meaning fans have been waiting more than a decade for this one. Now, just three months before GTA 6 arrives, and a week before an extended look premieres on Netflix , CyberLeek is releasing what appears to be unfinished footage from the game. The leaker has already posted videos of driving, fighting, a basketball mini game, and flying, along with images purportedly showing the game’s full map. The latest clip also s...
