Tekken director apparently keeps getting requests to add a Waffle House stage

Waffle House is one of those uniquely American institutions-turned-meme. The 24/7 chain is not only a place where you can order a breakfast combo at 3AM, but where unruly customers have been known to show up ready to throw hands (and sometimes chairs). Given its notoriety for late-night brawls, it’s exactly the type of setting that would make for a perfect backdrop in a fighting game like Tekken 8 — and apparently, fans have been inquiring. Longtime Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada posted on X this weekend asking what the deal is with all the Waffle House requests. Obviously, the question was posed in the days before April Fools’ Day, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there turned out to be some jest baked into it all. But now that we’re having the conversation… Ok, I will only ask once about this request. Why do some communities send me requests for "Waffle House"? Please be sure to explain the basis for the request, including the original story, history and background

NYC’s business chatbot is reportedly doling out ‘dangerously inaccurate’ information

An AI chatbot released by the New York City government to help business owners access pertinent information has been spouting falsehoods, at times even misinforming users about actions that are against the law, according to a report from The Markup . The report, which was co-published with the local nonprofit newsrooms Documented and The City , includes numerous examples of inaccuracies in the chatbot’s responses to questions relating to housing policies, workers’ rights and other topics. Mayor Adams’ administration introduced the chatbot in October as an addition to the MyCity portal, which launched in March 2023 as “a one-stop shop for city services and benefits.” The chatbot, powered by Microsoft’s Azure AI, is aimed at current and aspiring business owners, and was billed as a source of “actionable and trusted information” that comes directly from the city government’s sites. But it is a pilot program, and a disclaimer on the website notes that it “may occasionally produce inco

How to cancel your Spotify Premium subscription

Canceling your Spotify Premium account is fairly quick and easy, and you'll still have access to your music library after cutting the digital cord. YouTube Premium might let you automatically jump to the most interesting part of a video

Google is testing out an interesting experiment with YouTube. According to 9to5Google , YouTube is testing out an experimental feature (meaning it rolls out to a select few users before going wide) that would allow Premium users to automatically jump ahead to what they want to see. In other words, it would use machine learning data to determine what is the most interesting part of a video, and prompt users to go straight to said part. SEE ALSO: If you watched certain YouTube videos, investigators demanded your data from Google In practical terms, this would work similarly to the double-tap trick you can use on mobile devices to skip ahead by 10 seconds in a video, except you'd be skipping to a predetermined part of the video that YouTube has deemed interesting. Many YouTube videos already have a little "most replayed" graphic to let you know where people are scrubbing to the most, so maybe the data to enable this new feature already exists. Anyway, I haven't s

An OLED iPad Pro and the first big-screen iPad Air will reportedly arrive in May

Apple will finally launch new iPads in early May, according to Bloomberg ’s Mark Gurman. Expected are a new iPad Pro with an OLED display and a faster iPad Air, including a 12.9-inch model for the first time in that lineup. The details of the upcoming iPad models have been consistent, circulating through the rumor mill since last year . The new iPad Pro models will reportedly add OLED displays (offering deeper blacks and richer colors ) and run on the new M3 chip, already found in several Macs . The new tablets are said to launch alongside a redesigned Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. Other than a white color option, the latter has remained unchanged since its arrival four years ago. Meanwhile, the iPad Air will supposedly run on a new processor. Bloomberg didn’t specify which, but — considering the current model uses the M1 , and Apple likely wants to reserve the M3 for the more expensive Pro — the M2 sounds like a safe bet. The 12.9-inch screen option would mark the first time th

Anti-trans hate is ‘widespread’ on Facebook, Instagram and Threads, report warns

Meta is failing to enforce its own rules against anti-trans hate speech on its platform, a new report from GLAAD warns. The LGBTQ advocacy group found that “extreme anti-trans hate content remains widespread across Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.” The report documents dozens of examples of hate speech from Meta’s apps, which GLAAD says were reported to the company between June 2023 and March 2024. But though the posts appeared to be clear violations of the company’s policies, “Meta either replied that posts were not violative or simply did not take action on them,” GLAAD says. The reported content included posts with anti-trans slurs, violent and dehumanizing language and promotions for conversion therapy, all of which are barred under Meta’s rules. GLAAD also notes that some of the posts it reported came from influential accounts with large audiences on Facebook and Instagram. GLAAD also shared two examples of posts from Threads, Meta’s newest app where the company has tried to

X / Twitter use is down by nearly a quarter since the Musk Era started, report says

An uptick in bots , a rise in hate speech , and content moderation policies that are unevenly applied to the social media platform's users. These are just some of the issues that have plagued X, formerly known as Twitter, since Elon Musk acquired the company back in October 2022. Now, roughly a year and a half later, it appears that Musk's X has lost almost a quarter of its user base. SEE ALSO: Elon Musk says Grok AI will be available to premium X users 'later this week' According to new data from third-party mobile analytics firm Sensor Tower, X's number of daily active mobile app users in the U.S. has fallen by 23 percent since November 2022.
